Get-stat -Entity $rp - Does'nt return any data

Good morning,

 

I'm trying to get performance data from ressource pool object but Get-stat does'nt return any data.

 

Bellow an example :

 

$rp = Get-ResourcePool -Name "XXXXXXXXXXXX"

$todayMidnight = (Get-Date -Hour 0 -Minute 0 -Second 0).AddMinutes(-1)
Get-StatType -Entity $rp -Start (Get-Date).AddDays(-2) -Finish $todayMidnight.AddDays(-1)

 

 

I don't understand why ...

For example, I can get performance data from Object VI : VM, Host but not for Ressource Pool.

Notice that I can see performance data from vShpere chart with no issue..

 

Hope my problem is clear and hope that someone know this issue.

     - Powershell v5

Privileges need to power down a host in VC6.5?

Hi

 

I am experiencing a problem since updating our VC to version 6.5. I have a defined set of roles that map to IT roles at our company, each role gives more rights to match the duties each job is expected to perform.

 

I migrated the roles across more or less like for like when going from 5.5 to 6.5 (leaving the additional nodes for areas like certificates with just full admins).

 

My problem is that I have a mid level role with staff who need to be able to place a host into maintenance and shut it down. Previously, and also according to the manuals, this should be granted by the privilege Host/Config/Maintenance. The role also has most other Host area privileges including Host/Config/Power although that should not be relevant. The staff can place the hosts in and out of maintenance but can't shut them down or reboot them.

 

Does anyone know what privilege I am missing?

vcenter service critical

I have a vcsa. I can log in via sso web gui,

If I go to Admistration, the deployement, then System Configuration and then Node, and then

services: there is a service called "vCenter Server Service" - this service is shown as critical.

 

I have restarted the service - still shows as critical.

How can I find out what the service really is and how to find the problem?

Is this servcice based on a user for startup, etc.

Hello community!

 

I am new to this blog, I ask a little question, I hope you can help me. Strangely after placing a network board on my ESXi server, it soon started to have PSOD, it is likely that the fault is caused by the new hardware on my server but I would like to confirm it with your help

status of other host hardware objects

I'm having this error after updating from vsphere 6.0 to 6.7U2 iam using IBM blade server HS23 the system status on the blade center management console is good and there is no problems on all blades

any help ?

Esxi Networking problem HP proliant

Dear All ,

 

Please any one can help , I'm install VMware 5.5 configuration & activated on HP Proliant server , then install 3 VM Machine , configuration and activated all machines  on it , I’m power off the server and move it to installed on new Data center when ESxi Initialize  bring me i a message "No network adapters were detected " , I’m try to restore server from BIOS to default and reset network configuration but the same problem , any help and suggestions .

IBM X3630 M4 Network Card Problem

Dear All ,

 

Kindly i face problem on network adapter for my new ESXI Server , the server contains 4 NIC cards, but i can see 1 NIC only from vsphere and server,

 

im already install ESXi V5.5

 

and vsphere is 5.5 too , im already check the Server Configuration form BIOS and check if all NIC enables and connected and if connected through network he retreivv activiaty .

 

any suggetions for help

Change IP of both Vcenter and external PSC

Due to a network redesign, the IP addresses for all my devices need to change. I have 4 esx hosts with a vcenter appliance and external PSC appliance.

 

What is the process for changing the IP of the vcenter and the external PSCs? I've looked everywhere, but haven't found good info on the correct process.

is it safe remove a host from a vDS without migrating the management vmk?

Is there any danger/problem in removing a host from a vDS by disconnecting the host from vcenter and then removing the host from inventory? That seems to work without any complaints about stuff still being in use on the vDS.

 

Reason: I'm building a workflow to rebuild a host. After removing the host from the vDS said host will be erased so whatever config might be left on the host referring to the vDS doesn't concern me. I'm more worried about any traces of the host being left on the vDS and causing problems down the road.

 

I know the "clean" way is to migrate the vmk but that's a lot more work to code than a disconnect/remove so I wanted to ask if the disconnect/remove option is going to come back to haunt me by silently corrupting the vDS (note: this workflow is not using powercli )

vCenter Appliance 6.0.0.20000 Error - 503 Service Unavailable

Hello,

 

I have been asked to "revive" a vCenter Appliance server for a customer.

 

I can log into the server via port 5480 using root credentials.  I cannot access on 5480 with my aministrator@vCenter.local credentials.

 

When I try to access the server via port 443, I get this error:

 

 

I have ssh'd into the machine and tried to start all services.  All started except vmware-invsvc:

 

 

I'm not sure how to fix this issue?

vCenter Server 6.7 update3 FQDN/PNID change feature

Anyone tried the new feature that finally allows changing the FQDN of a vCenter Server? I cannot make it work, it just fails with the following error:

pnid_change.log:

2019-09-08 11:38:39,050 - pnid_utils-update_task_status():1186 - INFO - Task : Failed to create replication placeholder.

The environment is pretty simple and meets the feature's requirements. I just don't know what to look at, so any ideas are appreciated.

The full pnid_change.log is attached (the real FQDN which has proper dns records is replaced with "test.local").

Buongiorno

Ho questo problema: ho aggiornato vCenter alla versione Update 3, ma quando effettuo il login mi appare la pagina bianca con il simbolo del caricamento che ruota all'infinito e non si carica la pagina di vCenter (vedi immagine)

Qualcuno ha qualche suggerimento, considerando che accedo a vCenter sia con IP_address:5480 che con SSH

Hello,

I want to install vCenter 6.7 on Windows Server 2016. My Windows Server IP address is "192.168.1.2" and in below picture, I entered this IP address in "ESXi host or vCenter Server name", but I got an error:

I opened port 443 and 9123 too, but problem exist.

How can I solve it?

Recovering a VM in a different vCenter, network setting is lost

vCenter 6.7 U2, 2 vCenters, one at hot site, one at main location

 

VMware DR here is a fairly manual method:

 

SAN replication to copy VMs to the hot site

For testing, SAN snapshots are used on the hot site SAN

Snapshot LUNs are presented to the hot site vCenter

LUNs are added to hot site vCenter

Datastore is browsed, .vmx file is selected and added to inventory

 

The problem is when the VMs were added to the inventory the network setting is missing. For the test they could just look at the original VM and set it on the hot site copy, but in a real disaster with thousands of VMs and the original data center gone this would be impossible.

 

All of the port groups (vDS) are defined in both vCenters.

 

Is there something being missed that will allow the network setting to be set when the VM is added to the inventory?

Decommissioing from external PSC 6.7 U2b fails

Today we have upgraded our Infrastructure VCenter with external PSC  from 6.5 to 6.7 U2b and the upgrade did work out without problems. In the following we were using the converge tool (cli) to merge the psc again in the vcenter appliance. This has been working in the same asthonishing way as the upgrade.

To finish our upgrade we tried to decomission the obsolete external psc, but the script and the generated json file didn´t work. Everytime we tried to start it, we get the error "the PSC isn´t managed by this host.

We changed the json-file several times from the underlying vSphere esxi host to the new VCenter as managing device. As another try we were using another vSphere ESXi host and we migrated the PSC to this host, but we were getting everytime the same error.

issues with Web Client permissions (vsphere 6)

Hi

 

 

I have installed vCenter Server 6.0 for a customer today, which completed fine - however  I now have issues getting permissions i vCenter Web Client - even when using the SSO administrator login.

 

I can manage the environment from the legacy vSphere Client, however when logging into the Web Client i get the "You do not have permission to view this object or this object does not exist". and this even goes for the SSO administrator login. I cannot add global permissions or administer roles.

anyone had this issue before? and maybe a solution?

vCenter - ad authentication with more than 2 domain controllers

Currently running vSphere 6.0 with plans to go to 6.7 shortly but is it possible to configure LDAP to connect to more than 2 domain controllers for authentication? We recently had an issue where the two domain controllers went down which just happen to be the ones vCenter uses for LDAP connectivity. It seems you can only put a primary & secondary server
