Vcenter SSO account does not see inventory of vcenter

Hi, I recently got an error on my VMware View deployment, which led me to the KB here:

However, if I log in to my vSphere web client with my own credentials (Domain admin), I do not appear to have full admin rights to the web client, as I cannot see anything under 'Sign-On and Discovery"

If I login with admin@system-domain, to the same URL, I see no inventory, it appears Vcenter is not properly connected or something. However I am logged into the exact same URL, https://myvcenterserver:9443/vsphere-client

Any thoughts?

*edit* Sorry, forgot to mention it is vCenter version 5.1.0 880146. Thanks.
